Need a Compass?

Every heard of such a thing called "Hammer"?

"Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement." Franklin D. Roosevelt said that, and he could well have been talking about Money Maze. Not that America’s 32nd President had time to mess about with fiendish puzzles. He busied himself with more pressing matters such as the Great Depression and WWII.

But it’s just as well he was pre-occupied because Money Maze is one of the most infuriatingly addictive puzzles in history. Looking a bit like a transparent Borg starship (or, if you’re not a complete geek, a see-through cube), Money Maze is a puzzle with a highly amusing twist. The idea is to put money, tickets, gift vouchers or any other paper-based pressie inside and laugh as recipients go nuts trying to get at their gift. Hilarious!

We’re not telling you how to solve Money Maze (of course we’ve cracked it) but it involves manoeuvering a steel ball through a labyrinthine maze by tilting the cube. If you think that sounds easy, it’s not. We’ve seen grown men (ok, us) reduced to tears trying to open this devious block – and there was only a quid inside. Oh yes, did we mention you can put coins in there as well? Actually, if it fits in the slot, you can put whatever you like inside Money Maze. As long as the recipient covets it, it’s funny.

Indeed, putting pressies inside Money Maze is infinitely more amusing than slipping a few notes in a birthday card. It’s your wonga so make ‘em work for it.

Flummoxed recipients might be tempted to take the direct approach and smash Money Maze to smithereens with a heavy object. But then they’d be unable to use it again. And that would be a shame because as well as being a brilliant way to give money, tokens and tickets, Money Maze is a fist-bitingly annoying puzzle. The root of all evil? Hit the Buy button and find out.
