<description>The Alpine Wasp is currently being manufactured here in New Zealand and is due to be completed by the end of April 2007. It will be tested extensively in the South Island of New Zealand during the remainder of 2007 where the vicious winds and changeable weather in the Mt Cook region will make sure that it is as ready as possible to go to Nepal for the 2008 climbing season.

The Everest Rescue Trust would dearly love for the Alpine Wasp to not be needed at all in 2008 for rescues but should the mountain feel differently about that, we want the Alpine Wasp to be ready to save lives on the mountain. We would like to play a significant part in the 2008 climbing season being the first since 1977 where there are no deaths on Mt Everest.
