Cosmic

It just published a guest blog entry on neatorama on those cosmic tatoes. And I just had to post here as well … I just had to.

The potatoes are grown with seeds mutated by cosmic radiation aboard a Chinese spacecraft. I bet they taste good fried, cooked and mashed. But that’s just a bet.

Wow, these potatoes look quite crazy. I would definitely try them out, that is the funny thing. I have seen some almost maroon ones like this. This makes me think of a mix between eggplant and potatoes.

If I’m not mistaken, those purple potatoes are not in fact the result of any radiation experiment or space travel. They are called Blue Kongo (Blå Kongo) and are sold in many grocery stores where I live (Sweden). They have been grown in this country since sometime in the thirties. They make a very interesting mash, or a cool potato sallad with some yellow or white ones.

You are correct, those potatoes are purple naturally. The Chinese experiments actually just makes then hardy.
