Hooray for those pointless things on the www! This is, at first, a fantastic little application which shows boats and ships in the San Francisco Bay area in realtime. It gives details of the vessels’ size, name, knots an hour and you can watch them as they make their way around the bay.

Then afterwards you think “Why was that interesting? Is there really a boat called Seabulk Challenge? I live in England and can swim about ten feet before drowning so why do I need to know the Ammon Ace was anchored in SF Bay at 11 o’clock in the evening?”
