For your biweekly newsletter at Criticker I wrote out a little something on online DVD rental/download services and I thought my RGS readers might enjoy it too.
So many movies to watch and so little time. In this newsletter, we’re going to outline a few online services, which could speed up your Cinema Consumption Rate… and maybe even save you a couple of bucks.
Amazon’s download service. Rentals cost around $3.99 and are stored for 30 days. Once you press play, you’ll have 24 hours to watch the film. Unbox also allows you to buy movies in DVD Quality for about $14.99, and upload them to some portable devices (unfortunately, iPods aren’t supported)Unbox recently teamed up with Tivo, which allows you to rent and buy films directly from your TV. Just register your broadband-connected Series2 or Series3 TiVo DVR — do it by April 30th, and get a $15 gift certificate towards Unbox purchases.
Apple TV is a media streaming device, which includes a hard drive. It combines with iTunes to let you enjoy purchaes in the comfort of your living room.An trading service that lets you turn movies you have into movies you want. Each trade costs just $0.99, plus postage.Everyone knows the DVD Rental giant, but were you aware that Netflix is rolling out a movie download service? They’re currently choosing random accounts and enabling them for download.
