I just discovered the nifty new feature by mistake. If you right click on an email in your Gmail inbox, a windowed preview of the email appears. There are also options to Close, Archive, Leave Unread, or Trash the message- without opening it. This is so nifty… and fast. How do the clever engineers at Google come up with these ideas?

isn’t it kind of hilariously pathetic that things like that can just completely make your day haha? I love it!
You are so right! Pathetic. But still cool.
This is a Firefox extension, not the feature of Gmail itself.

Count … I think as long as you don’t load any images spammers won’t see if you opened the mail or not… Am I right or wrong?
Any idea how this works in Macs?
I just tried both IE7 and Firefox, it didn’t do it for me, so it must be that plugin.
It’s a greasemonkey script that lifehacker.com has built into a great (better gmail) extension.

I wonder if you delete it after that form of previewing it shows up as a read email from the person that sent it. I know alot of spammers check to see if you read their email or not so as to send you more spam.
