Freshness might translate into a “sweeter” taste (at least it did when trying freshly beheaded and de-veined shrimp which still contracted upon being chewed). That might be how you get to more efficiently absorb the “life force” of your meal.

That’s not fresh, I’ve seen people eat live squit just like spaghetti, without even cutting it into pieces…
I can’t understand why are they doing it.
