I too can attest to this thing being a piece of crap. It does leave a gap in the window that the brittle strip of plastic it comes with does not fill adequately. Furthermore, the unit itself is flimsy, and will easily warp, causing the fan to jam. Plus, the solar cell is so small that the sun has to be directly in front on an absolutely cloudless day, or it won't work.

A great idea, but poorly implemented. Why can't someone just hook up a a solar cell to a car's air conditioner?

Perhaps the system failed because the seal of the car was too perfect. Leaving a shade side window cracked as well would allow fresh air to enter while hot air is evacuated. After all, it is a ventilation system, not an air conditioner.

I don't know how the system ever supported the claim of 107/75, but it seems that it could certainly keep ambient temperature air flowing through, negating the solar cooker effect of cars in the sun.

I'm sorry to say that the Car Solar Cooler does not work. NBC4 in Washington DC tested it last year and found it didn't work. See the report here: http://www.nbc4.com/dirdt/9733390/detail.html

Doesn't the solar powered car window fan end up leaving a gap between the top of the window and the frame that is only filled with a piece of brittle plastic that barely fits? Seems like a good way to invite to a break-in. Security concerns aside, it's a clever idea.
