I knew a man (who recently died at age 100) who built a squirrel catapult over 30 years ago. His was much more “humane” in that it was a catapult, not a slingshot, and just launched them into the field behind his yard. They never went more than twenty feet high and landed in tall grass. He had this thing in operation for years and the squirrels kept coming back to it, even though he lived in an area where there was plenty of food for them. It made me think that they enjoyed it to some degree. Lest anyone get the wrong idea of my friend, he was an incredibly nice human being, always helped people that needed help, and was funny and sharp until the day he died. He just hated squirrels in his yard for some reason.

This one looks like the slingshot launches the squirrel right into a tree trunk and that the squirrel can get tangled in the rubber tubing, a design meant to injure the squirrel. I wish I knew where they lived.
