Optical illusion : the girl is rotating both clockwise, and anti-clockwise… depending on how you see it.
Hint: focus below the hips to ’change’ the rotating direction

I don’t see it … I do notice that the shadow is spinning the other way around but the silhouette spins just in one way.

Ya, this illusion is a bit harder… it took me a while to see it clearly.

I couldn’t see it at first until I had scrolled down the page where only the legs were showing. Focus on the extended leg and you should see it.

I can only see it rotating clockwise. I think it’s because the foot on the ‘ground’ only seems to go clockwise.

No worries Womble .. I only can see go clockwise, but Mike (the one here in Ireland) looks at the same image and sees it spin the other way around. I am getting frustrated

Funny, I’ve gotten to the point where I can change direction back and forth before it makes an entire rotation (so it goes back and forth and never has its “back” to me). The key for me seems to be to focus on the extended foot also.

when i first saw this on TV i saw it first clock-wise (which seems to be the most popular), then counter. but now i can only ever see it clock-wise.
it has something to do with which side of your brain is more contolling. logical or creative.

EASY SOLUTION HOW TO MAKE THE GIRL CHANGE DIRECTIONS!
First, forget about the girl and concentrate on the shadows. Picture the outward leg is doing a complete circle, and the part that is showing depends on which way the girl is turnig. If she’s going clockwise you see the front of the circle, and vice versa. The other hals is always off screen.
So put you hand over the girl and look at the shadows. Picture the shadow circle and think at which side youre looking. Remove your hand and the girl turns!

I am usually very good with optical illusions, however, I must admit that this one took me a minute to get. Awesome.

I’m left with the impression that this does change direction randomly so you think it is an optical illusion of change of rotation because you were looking for it. I’ve seen it rotate both ways. I think this is not an optical illusion but a test to see how many would believe it to be an illusion.

Most of the time she just pivots back and forth and doesn’t go all the way around. When she does, though, she is normally going clockwise. Does anyone have a clue what not making the full circle means???
