Before I write about the Hong Kong Star Ferry … you should read "The World of Suzie Wong" before you travel to Hong Kong:
Robert Lomax tired of working in an office, wants to be an artist. So he moves to Hong Kong to try his hand at painting. Finding a cheap hotel he checks in, only to find it’s used by prostitutes and their ’dates’ who meet in the bar downstairs. Since he never picks up any of ladies, they all want to know more about him. Eventually he does hire one to model for him, but soon falls in love. But, since he’s on a limited budget, he can’t afford her exclusively, and doesn’t want to ’share’ her.
to put you in the right Hong Kong mood … if you are staying in the Wan Chai area you will be recognizing tons of things form the book and the Star Ferry going from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island will appear in the book as well.

After our fantastic dinner at the Hutong Restaurant we decided to walk down to the close by Star Ferry Pier on the Kowloon site to catch one the last ferries back to Hong Kong Island. The fare was something like HK$3 per person and it a must do while being in Hong Kong.

Above Hong Kong’s tallest building, the "IFC"

And here the Hong Kong Convention Centre which looks like a flat version of Opera in Sydney or like an U.F.O when you look from above with the help of Google Earth.
