I've never been there, but I do know housing can be pretty expensive there (real estate bubble anyone?). But well, if you have a property to sell in Ireland I suppose you can invest that back on a property in Spain. Easy! As I said above, I've never been there, but I do have relatives all over Spain, and I could tell you that if you want some sun, head for the south... ;-) Good luck on your new Spanish life!

We are loving it! We live just on the outskirts of the city in Castelldefels, which is not at all busy apart from July/August when all the Spanish Barcelonians move out of the city to their weekend apartments. We bought a house up on the Costa Brava, which is wonderful, but we rent here in Castelldefels. Living in Barcelona would probably be busier, but would depend what part of the city you chose.
