Ohhh, I had such a nice night of sleep, like 2 hours! Sweet. Why? Because our Server Provider decided last night to switch data centers. Did they email us? No, but somewhere on their site there was a note … again somewhere! This is enough! We are going to switch and we are thinking of Total Choice Hosting… we are so ready and we delayed the switch because we are leaving tomorrow for the US. That was a big mistake.
Sorry again for all the trouble lately ….. but believe me it hurts my heart as much as yours when you can not access Random Good Stuff .. it’s bleeding.

I was at TotalChoice for quite a while, and would still recommend them. I switched only because their service had gone from exceptional to merely good as they grew, and they had become less competitive on price as well. For me they weren’t the best choice any more, but they’re a fine hosting company.

Platypus,
thank you for your comment … where are you now? We didn’t sign up for anything yet.. so if you got a better host we are willing to look at it

I’m with http://www.emaxhosting.com right now, primarily because they’re cheaper for a low-bandwidth low-maintenance guy like me. I can’t really say they’re any better than TCH, though, which is not to say that they’re worse but just that there are no obvious points of superiority. Your mileage may vary, of course, and everything could change tomorrow. They might have changed since I was at TCH, though the fact that they’re still growing seems to indicate otherwise. Growth is incredibly disruptive for a hosting company, as every increase in scale seems to bring an entirely new set of problems, and I’ve seen previously-good hosts collapse before. Any company that has been around for a while and grown a lot and still seems well regarded in the community (always check webhostingtalk for the good and yourhostsucks for the bad) is probably doing something right.

How much traffic do you use per month on average? Do you prefer US or UK servers or anywhere else? I can hunt around for you to see what I can find.

Ohh .. that’s really nice of you Matthew ….
We are using around 400GB a month and I think we would like to have our server in the US (or if it’s much cheapers, we don’t care where it stands, lol).
Thank you very much!

No problem. I have been around the hosting industry (and in) since 2001 and have seen many companies come and go. I will try create a list this evening of those who I have seen as solid companies over those years.
Just on my way home now and then back out right after that so the list will be created late tonight or in the morning.

Sweet .. if you like we can make a guest entry out of it with a link to Gadget Venue. What do you think?

Sounds good to me
Do you want the actual guest entry to be about hosts? or did you mean pass the details to you and do another guest entry? Either way is cool with me. I didnt get to this last night because your site was down and I needed to check a few things on your site. I will work on it this morning.
