One of the (many) highlights from your recent US trip was visiting the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky. Which was awesome. For $5 you get an 80 minute tour through the real production halls and a sample at the end. Yummy and at the end we bought to bottles of their fantastic Bourbon.

Mysteries looking tree near the entrance of the newly built visitor center.

The holy grounds of distillery.

Let’s tap it.

It all starts with yeast.

Yeast is really kicking in … as you can see in the left barrel bubbles over bubbles.

The Woodford Bourbon get’s distilled 3 times.

And that’s what you get … extremely young whiskey. We all got to taste it.

Gets filled up and out it goes:

From here to here:

to the storage:

The smell in there was incredible ….. and working in there all day can get you drunk, maybe.

And after couple of years it’s done … and we got to taste uncut bourbon straight from a barrel. NICE!

And that’s what’s left in the barrel … they could resell it at a Bourbon Pottpourri.

If you are near Elizabethtown KY you should check out the Makers Mark Distilery. It is pretty impressive.

Hello Jessica,
how are you? Mike actually went to MM but like Woodford better. It’s the smallest one in KY.
We are actually back from our trip but thank you very much for the comment.
