I have been a pro member of Xing formerly known as OpenBC for over 2 years know which costs me around 100 bucks each year. If you are no familiar with Xing it’s similar for LinkedIn.
So yesterday I get an email from them with " Profile Image" as subject. Oh Oh, I thought! So it turns out that they had to delete my photo because I violated their T&C.
This really made me speechless! WHAT? Pictures of me in question … (don’t get too exciting, no nudity and such)

Come on! I don’t really understand at all. Why would they even care as long it’s not insulting to anyone. I wrote them again and it turns out that the permanently deleted that image. This vilotes my personal rights. I chose to represent myself with this image and deleting it without informing me upfront and without a specific reason just blows my mind! Loosing your face in other countries is the worst kind of insult!
I just went back to see other peoples profile pictures and thinking Xing over again I decided this is maybe not the right place for me and I rather invest that money on an upgrade on LinkedIn! I guess I don’t fit in with Xing and that’s a good thing I guess. Thank you Xing for opening my eyes.
But on the other hand I can’t be really be surprised since Xing is a German based company, a country where they expect you to add a photo when applying for a job. That makes instant discrimination much easier.
And one more thing I made better and more valuable connections on Facebook!
Talking of … Feel free to add me on LinkedIn and Facebook
One more thing Performancing runs that Blog Awards and RGS has been nominated already – not by me but by Awesome David from Daily Blog Tips (oh I feel honored, thank you David). If you got a moment and feel like cheering me up why not add some more RGS nominations?
