Valencia – ¡Ay, caramba!

We are now one week in Valencia and we still didn’t sign a contract for a flat. 2 days ago we thought we are going to have a place. The agent even copied our passports and proof of income – the owner said that he liked us and that we can have the place. But it went to a different couple who viewed the place right before us and they said yes! What a bummer. So 48 hours ago we were at the same place when we started a week ago.

We have seen tons of places and it’s really frustrating because every single place has a major flaw .. and we are running out of places to view. We do have an agreement with an owner that we could have his place which we found out today but he wants a one year bank guarantee which as a foreigner is totally out of reach. We don’t even have a bank account here … no bank in Spain will trust us enough to give us one. The only way they would give us a bank guarantee is if we put the 12 month of rent upfront and then they will write us the paper. But that means that we could just pay our landlord a full year of rent – which is not an option.

So we called the owner and he will talk to his bank tomorrow and I really hope we can find an other way. We are so nervous and our emotions run wild. But if we get this place – it would be one of the coolest, craziest weirdest places I ever lived in. If we get that place I will explain more.

Every single day we get up at 7:30 leave the hotel one hour later and run around all day making appointements …. 1 or 2 hours of work and more running around. And every single night since we are here we treat ourselves to baguette, chorizo and wine. It’s getting old. I am so ready to finally finding a place. We deserver it
