Here is a bizarre little nugget I found on the Spare Room- a comic to help little christian kids understand what gay people are, and how we are infiltrating society. I can only feel pity for kids getting these crazy messages. Read the full somic strip (if you can stomach it) here.
And on a lighter note how funny are these Catholic Costumes for Children.

Your reaction to this is based on your perspective as a person who is gay or as someone who identifies with what you’d call a ‘pro-gay’ perspective. However, your treatment of this as ‘crazy’ shows that you are the same as those who wrote the comics in that you are unable to accept that their beliefs about the human condition are just as valid as yours. You don’t really know the truth of our existence in the same way that they don’t. Why disallow the validity of their beliefs by tagging them as crazy? You are a humanist – or at least some form of anti-theist. You have a moral schema based on assumptions in the same way they do. And you judge them and their children in the same way that they judge you – EXCEPT for the fact that they judge the ’sin’ eg. homosexuality while you actually judge the person.
Please seriously consider what I have said and think of the people who YOU might offend when you say these things. Judgment is a double-edged sword. Don’t condemn people for wanting to raise their children based on their beliefs.

It IS crazy to teach children that gay people have a devil on their backs. It’s crazy and unacceptable, and it’s correct to point this out and mock it.
I can understand that some people don’t like gays. But, I don’t accept it. It’s a discriminatory position, and needs to be fought. It needs to be laughed at and, fortunately for us, Christianists constantly provide us with plenty of hilarious fodder, such has this ridiculous, pathetic comic.

There is a huge difference though Mike #1 – I am getting attacked and get treated like I am not a human worth like anyone else. If they would let me alone and respect my existence I would not even bother dealing with them.
Now, may I excuse myself – I have to feed my devil. He starts chewing on my ear.
PS. I wonder if they have the size of the boy’s costume to fit a 6′6 tall man.

Thanks for your feedback Mike #1. There are a few points about your response that are both correct and incorrect. I am a person who identifies as gay. And I stand by my treatment of the publisher as this comic as crazy. I as raised up as a catholic, and there are many christian valises I wholeheartedly agree with, but… the teachings I endured as a child also taught me that my feelings as a gay man were wrong and I was a sinner lead me to being wrecked with the guilt of not being what ‘god’ expected me to be.
So in my posting this entry I am making a point of how children are taught this crap, and their young, impressionable minds can’t decipher the messages being spoon-fed to them, which can lead to years of depression if someone does not fit the mould, situations like or men entering into marriages with poor women they don’t love because that is what is expected of them.
I am not anti-christian, I am anti anything that teaches kids to hate other people, I am against and religions that teach you should love your neighbour, but this is conditional on your neighbour adhering to your bizarre beliefs. I am against religions that teach women in countries with AID’s epidemics to not use condoms, or religions that will not let a women who was raped and impregnated to abort her child.
I am sorry to get so deep with all this on a light-hearted blog, but this is a topic I feel very strongly about, and my way of dealing with this fodder is to laugh at it, and show everyone what a joke it is.

A deliberately inflammatory comic strip designed by a group of people with, quite frankly, ridiculous and outragous points of views (a brief look through the website will tell you all you need to know about the type of idiots running it) should rightly be labelled as crazy. The authors may not be able to understand or accept homosexuality, which is their right, but they have taken it a step further and produced something which can only be described as crap.
Mike says that by labelling them as crazy it shows that ‘you are the same as those who wrote the comics in that you are unable to accept that their beliefs about the human condition are just as valid as yours’. However surely if you were the same as them you would be at the drawing board coming up with something equally inflammatory and prejudice towards them? It is one thing to hold a maintain a belief, it is another to act on this belief in such a way as to produce material that will deliberately offend others. Surely most people can see the difference.
All this after only coming on this website because i’m bored!

I really don’t think we need to say anything in response to this publication. It’s such an obvious piece of crap, the publishers and supporters are just making themselves look bad.

This seems pretty simple to me. Anybody who spends their time producing something so blatantly offensive and hateful has issues that should be addressed.
I have almost no knowledge of christianty whatsoever, but it confirms for me that you don’t have to be a religious person to live a moral existence. People seem to focus so much on the things (and people) they don’t like or agree with, and I can’t fathom living my life that way.
My message: Have a little respect! Live and let live.

A. Just one but you need a whole lot of kindling and lamp oil.
