Cara here.
Been to busy to comment on anything lately, but I had to on this one.
In another life (pre-daughter) I went to a Craft school were I learned to blow glass.
Glass is the coolest and I have made the drops myself. We also did a lot of really stupid stuff like putting fireworks in a bucket outside and then pouring hot glass onto it. Did I mention glass is the coolest.

Hey Cara,
how are you? Indeed haven’t heard from you in a while. I always wanted to blow class as well - every time there is something about it on TV I have to watch it.
You don’t happen to have a video of the glass and fireworks experiment?
Hope you 2008 was nice to you so far.

I wish I did. But I was a poor student then and I did not have a camera. A friend I went to school with now has his own hot shop, so maybe on a future visit we can do some fun stuff with glass and then of course send it to my friendly random good stuff.
If you are every in Seattle WA, you should visit the Pilchuck Glass School. My sister lives there and she says it is AWESOME to watch the artists there blow.
Good luck on in the new city.
random glass trivia….where do you consistently reheat the glass piece that you are working on…..THE GLORY HOLE.
I always loved the fact that it is called that.
Also liked the fact that you could yell things at your assistant like “Blow harder”, “Fire it up”, and “Put her away”

Cara,
I never thought blowing glass can be this exciting
Should take private classes at home .. I can see this to be stressful to a relationship if the other person doesn’t know what going on behind closed doors .
Seattle is an awesome city - have been there a long time ago. Maybe someday I happened to stop by again.
Have a great weekend.
