Hey, what about replicating the colors of a whole rainbow at once. Average color is not enough!

Believe it or not, this intriguing little device has the amazing chameleon-like ability to change colors according to its environment. The way it works is sort of like a one-pixel camera; turn it on and three LED lights (in red, blue and green) emit light sequentially to detect the strength of reflected light, then matches and stores the external color source.

For multi-colored surfaces, the average color is reflected. Sure, it does make a perfect tool for decorators and designers… but for something as cool as this, do you really even need to find a practical use?
