I recently learned that a friend of years gone by had died from the return of the polio I guess he thought had beaten.
He had practically no use of his arms (some use had been restored to one by surgically rearranging muscles), but he too could do phenomenal things with his feet (including drive a car).
When people talk about terrorism they don’t know about the terrors of polio, iron lungs, tuberculosis, and a number of diseases nobody hears about to today. We feared public swimming pools, the dust off the street,…..
