Update:

I just got back from the daily morning iPhone walking routine. So it turns out that the Movistar in Plaza de la Ayuntamiento (Valencia) “which is their flag ship store here) took handwritten preorders for the iPhone way before the launch date. No comment on how long that list is and when I can expect to buy one as a non privileged “possible” new costumer.

And they only sold the iPhone to walk-in costumers on the first day - so they don’t miss out on the photo op to build a line infront of the store for the press.

According the the website there are several stores listed from there you can buy the iPhone. Which is not correct. I am assuming that all incoming iPhone stock is going straight to the flag ship to work off that list.

Nice going Movistar!

At least here in Valencia!

Most of you readers probably already know that I am super excited for the new iPhone. Since the launch on Friday, I’ve wasted about 15 hours running around, trying to get my hands on one.

They haven’t been able to say when they would be in stock, which I totally understand, but it turns out that not everyone who walks into a Movistar store is the same.

I just got back from yet another visit to the Movistar Store - my third today. Mike went inside because I was too embarrassed to ask the same lady again. While standing outside, I of course pressed my nose against the window to see if there are any iPhones going over the counter … EEEKK .. YES - there was a young dude and his parents buying one. YES!

Mike comes out telling me that they have iPhones but they’re first going to people on a reservation list! WTF? What reservation list? Again, WTF?

I’ve gone 10 times to that same store and they never mentioned anything about reservations. Especially on the launch day. They told us that we probably not getting one today because they had only 6 left and there were at least 15 people in front of us willing to buy one. They told us to come back on Monday, so we left. Again, no mention of a reservation list. And during none of the other times I went and talked to the same lady, did she ever say anything the possibility of reserving an iPhone.

Now I am wondering who those people on that list are. How did they get on it? Am I not good enough for Movistar? You would think if the iPhone is in stock, it’s on a first come first serve basis.

Well, Mike asked if he could reserve iPhones now. Answer: Nope, not today!

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to contain myself tomorrow. ARG!

I’m really sorry, you can’t get one.

I prordered mine and got it on release day.

Pre-ordering was not an option. Apple.es only refers to the movistar website. That’s it! And there you only get fails information where you can buy it.

So how is it. Do you like it? Feel like writing a small review for RGS about the iPhone 3G?

Well, yes I love it. But I also loved my 2G iPhone.

The real good thing is 3G and AGPS. Those two things do really kill the battery.

The real big thing is iPhone OS 2.0 - also available for the old iPhone ;-)

I think you are new to Spain … and now you’re learning how Telefonica works and why many spanish call it timofonica (scamphonic).
