Mother’s Day gift with an evil hint.

For those who cook with oil, it’s important to be extremely careful with the possibility of fire. The Fire Flowers are fire extinguishers that look just like decorative silk flowers, but can be used to put out oil and grease fires with ease.

To use the Fire Flowers, just keep them attached to a nearby surface using the included magnets. In the case of an oil/grease fire, simply place the flowers into the pan and they will instantly take over, covering the oil with a film that stops the burning. Once you have a chance, turn off the stove!

This is interesting. But I really can’t imagine a failed cook that produce a huge flame like in the picture! What’s cooking? Grenade? Flame Thrower?! That funny! ;)

Then you’ve clearly never seen a deep fat frying pan fire.

[via Random Good Stuff] [...]

Since I was 14 yrs old, and accidently caused a large grease fire in our kitchen, which resulted in several thousands of dollars of smoke damage…not to mention the deep 2nd & 3rd degree burn on my hand that resulted in my 2 wk stay at a local burn unit (after I tried to move the the pan and it ’sloshed’)..along with grease burns to my mother (who tried to put out the fire I caused)…well, contrary to what someone earlier and less informed posted… I personally HAVE SEEN a grease fire UP CLOSE (thanks to an after school snack of french fries and my stupidity of leaving the kitchen to watch T.V. – next room and not even a wall between the two)…

I could have saved myself, my mother and my family a LOT of pain and suffering, along with almost the LOSS of MY HAND & A PERMANENT SCARE, I have lived with for 24 yrs…if I would have had those handy dandy (not to mention cheap) little ‘fire flowers’ in our kitchen….

so…I THINK THEY ARE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY KITCHEN, BUT ESPECIALLY THOSE KITCHENS WITH KIDS, TEENAGERS, AND THE ELDERY!!

I’m actually purchasing a set, they’re easier to have handy than digging for a fire extinguisher and at approx. $62 USD, you can’t lose!

make that SCAR and NOT Scare…*rolls her eyes*…oh, and the french fries actually never made it into the frying pan..grease fires are easy to do…it’s not like you always put 4 inches of grease in a frying pan…normally only enough grease to potentially and maybe cover what you’re cooking (unless you have deep fryer you lug out every time you feel the urge to fry some french fries, chicken, breakfast sausage or whatever)…

You would be amazed and shocked at how many burn injuries result from kitchen fires yearly (go take a look at statistics)…

Wouldn’t you rather not every have to have a child or elderly parent deal with a trauma like this, which is not only easily preventable, but also…if it does occur, easily SOLVED with Less Chance of INJURY!

    *gets off soap box*
