make that SCAR and NOT Scare...*rolls her eyes*...oh, and the french fries actually never made it into the frying pan..grease fires are easy to do...it's not like you always put 4 inches of grease in a frying pan...normally only enough grease to potentially and maybe cover what you're cooking (unless you have deep fryer you lug out every time you feel the urge to fry some french fries, chicken, breakfast sausage or whatever)...

You would be amazed and shocked at how many burn injuries result from kitchen fires yearly (go take a look at statistics)...

Wouldn't you rather not every have to have a child or elderly parent deal with a trauma like this, which is not only easily preventable, but also...if it does occur, easily SOLVED with Less Chance of INJURY!

*gets off soap box*

Since I was 14 yrs old, and accidently caused a large grease fire in our kitchen, which resulted in several thousands of dollars of smoke damage...not to mention the deep 2nd & 3rd degree burn on my hand that resulted in my 2 wk stay at a local burn unit (after I tried to move the the pan and it 'sloshed')..along with grease burns to my mother (who tried to put out the fire I caused)...well, contrary to what someone earlier and less informed posted... I personally HAVE SEEN a grease fire UP CLOSE (thanks to an after school snack of french fries and my stupidity of leaving the kitchen to watch T.V. - next room and not even a wall between the two)...

I could have saved myself, my mother and my family a LOT of pain and suffering, along with almost the LOSS of MY HAND & A PERMANENT SCARE, I have lived with for 24 yrs...if I would have had those handy dandy (not to mention cheap) little 'fire flowers' in our kitchen....

so...I THINK THEY ARE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY KITCHEN, BUT ESPECIALLY THOSE KITCHENS WITH KIDS, TEENAGERS, AND THE ELDERY!!

I'm actually purchasing a set, they're easier to have handy than digging for a fire extinguisher and at approx. $62 USD, you can't lose!

[via Random Good Stuff] [...]
