No posts yesterday – sorry folks but we left for our trip to the US. It took us 24 hours to get here. It took a little longer than expected but we had bad weather in Philadelphia and tons of flights got canceled and delayed. We are very lucky that we even made it to Ohio. A night in Philadelphia would have been awful since all the Hotels are booked out due the World Series. Oh well – we made it.
Here a few pics from the trip and bellow I will post some stuff about the whole anti gay marriage thing… (which is pretty random, I know
)
2 hours before we landed we flew over this cool island strip. I wonder what that was. US Airways didn’t have one of those status screens and I’m still pissed that they put us in the very last row next to the toilets where we couldn’t even put our seats back. And by the way – how are people getting into those emergency exit rows? Not fair – I’m 6’6!
Just landed in Philly … arg we flew from rainy Madrid into the rain.
Some cool art work on the way to immigration.
Just took this picture – pretty neat idea of my sister in law… paper, plastic bag and black marker. Done!
As you know we are here to visit Mike’s family. We are together now for 7 years and we both left the US since I my visa run out and there was no other way for me to stay legally. We live now 6 years in Europe are married now for 3 years. One day we would like to adopt a child.
In Spain we have the absolut same rights and yes Spain is a very religious country but guess what – people don’t care and they think everyone should have the same rights.
So now this morning I found these anti gay marriage campaign videos. Which makes me sick to my stomach – changing the constitution to take rights away? What is that about? Are gay people not good enough live a normal life? Why do some people want to have the freak status hover us? It just makes me so angry.
We came here to celebrate a pre Thanksgiving with our family and those people are telling us that what we have as a family is nothing worth? Whatever! Those people need a serious wake up call and everyone in the following videos suck and they should maybe invest their time and effort in other things – the world has other more serious issues than taking away rights.
Again you all above just suck! Religious freedom? Protecting traditional marriage? Who gives you the right to make gay people a second class human.
And just for the fun of it:

That just makes me sick, people running on issues of hate, terror, bigotry and fear. It shows what small minds they have
Nice try at obfuscation, there, Matt. But, it’s about taking the right to marry away from same-sex partners. That’s taking rights away. I mean — that’s just what it is.
Gay people and lesbians have the right to marry now. And other people want to take that right away. It’s sad.
Matt Garrett is obviously straight or just doesn’t understand that yes, rights ARE being taken away. We are people that deserve every right as anyone else.
What if there was a law passed that started out “People named Matt….” and afforded you a few benefits that people with other names have, just not ALL of them? What if all the videos above were about Matt and why we should vote against people named Matt because of hatred, fear and bigotry of people named Matt?
California needs to set an example for freedom-I live in a state where I can be fired from my job and evicted from my apartment, be denied a job or denied a place to live just because I am gay.
When one person is oppressed, no one is free.
This proposed amendment would still make gays second-class humans. Why call it “domestic partnerships” instead of “marriage”, if it’s all the same thing? Ah, I know why — because it’s not the same thing. And it would be a lot easier in the future to change their minds and remove privileges from “domestic partnerships”, rather than marriage
Yeah, second class citizens! And I hate the way the government keeps putting drug dealers, rapists and terrorists in prison, it’s like they don’t think the drug dealers have rights. Locking them in cells! Talk about second class citizens. Why does the government get to decide that those are immoral behaviors. If I want to sell meth to 5th graders, I should have the right to do that. I can’t believe they’re so intolerant.
Seriously, this was always a cool blog, I’m bummed about this post. You’re mad at these people for being judgmental, but aren’t you being just as judgmental? You think they’re wrong for their moral views, but what makes your understanding of morality the correct one? It seems like the first video on the post was taking a reasonable approach. They’re not Westboro Baptist holding “God Hates Fags” signs. They’re just saying that they believe the personal choices the homosexual community makes have a negative affect on our culture as a whole. Everyone holds beliefs like that about some group. Almost everyone agrees that pedophilia is wrong, but there’s a man-child-love organization in Germany that feels like they’re being discriminated against just because they have a thing for kids. Should we cater to their desires just because they love kids?
Everyone uses some standard to decide what’s right and wrong. The group in the videos uses a standard based on the Bible. It’s kind of bizarre to judge them about how judgmental they are. It comes off kind of hypocritical.
Dude, just wanted to welcome to my home state, I’m glad you are enjoying it…even thought he weather sucks ass, haha.
BTW, I support you all the way…
Later!
Corey,
got the pun
Thanks for reading and supporting. We got good but cold weather now in Ohio.
Doug, I’m glad you like RGS, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. But, I really don’t have the urge to answer your points in detail. I have no idea why you’re comparing gays with criminals, terrorists and pedophiles. Your arguments are way over the top, and it’s difficult to take them seriously.
Yay Doug.
Well, you guys just lost yourself a loyal reader. RGS shouldn’t be used for spreading liberal agenda and poisoning the minds of people that read it. The stuff on here should be toned down to gadgets and goodies, not gays.
Take it easy (sleazy).
Kev-O:
Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. It’s a blog, not some institution that has a responsibility to reflect everything you believe — Jesus, you’re the one with the poisoned mind, in my book.
I love how most of the people in the videos are “Jamie” or “John,” and don’t have full names. Why? Because they’re actors, not real people. It’s all staged, and framed as “this person sitting in a park that I found.”
The best argument is the “SAVE TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE” one, in my book, though. In the words if Inigo Montoya, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
(Lifted liberally — ha! — from Wikia:)
It’s often argued that the institution of marriage has been around for millennia, but it’s in jeopardy because liberal-minded folks want to change it. The reality is that the institution of marriage has changed drastically over time. Until the 20th century, marriages were about property, and the bride was merely one of the chattels.
The womens’ suffrage movement had profound impact on this institution, since changes to the role of women within “traditional” marriage meant changes that affected the majority of society. Similarly, the increased social freedoms that arose after the world wars, and the sexual revolution of the 1960s, are both phenomena that helped changed the role of women quite considerably. By extension, this changed what the phrase “traditional marriage” actually means. These changes affected the majority of the population and had a major impact on traditional marriage, and yet the institution survives. It is difficult to see how gay marriage, which by definition affects only a minority of the population, could pose a threat to traditional marriage.
……
Keep posting, RGS — and, if you want to come back to this side of the pond, Canada would be glad to have you.
I think what upset me the most about those videos was the one in which a little girl comes home from school and she is so excited because she learned that she could one day marry a princess. The mother gets this look of pure horror and the clip wants to you think that the school did something horribly wrong. This combines two of the things I dislike most about the States: that the school system is expected to teach Christian values and that teachers are expected to take the place of the parents when it comes to things like sex education. I understand how a parent would want their child to follow in their own intolerant, bigoted footsteps, but don’t expect the teachers to help you with that.
I am proud to now live in a country (Netherlands) where same sex marriages are completely normal. While I do happen to be in a heterosexual marriage, I love the fact that if I were a lesbian I would have the same rights to marriage that I do now. Knowing that my children will have the right to marry whomever they choose literally gives me the most wonderful goosebumps.
Love to RGS! I spend literally hours browsing this site and playing your incredible selection of games.
Jess
Lincoln and Jess, you both made my day – I needed that.
It’s just shocking to see that people are getting away just being 100% discriminating.
Someone please give us one reasonable answer why gay marriage should be banned.
I’m on your side.
Politics doesn’t belong in the bedroom – of willing consenting partners, that is. Which _is_ significantly different from terrorists rapists ect. to respond to Doug’s overblown argumentation.
I don’t think it’s any of my business (or anyone else’s) to judge who should fall in love with who. Any two people who mutually find someone they love enough to want to spend the rest of their life with gets my envy, respect, and support.
I think love is fabulous. The more love and understanding there is in this world, the nicer it gets.

Congratulations on furthering the disinformation by the No on 8 Campaign. The FACT is that California State Law,Family Code § 297.5 states quite clearly that – “Registered domestic partners shall have the SAME rights, protections, and benefits, and shall be subject to the SAME responsibilities, obligations, and duties under law, whether they derive from statutes, administrative regulations, court rules, government policies, common law, or any other provisions or sources of law, as are granted to and imposed upon spouses.” http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cacodes/fam/297-297.5.html
Contrary to the No on 8 fear mongering, No rights are being taken away.
