Owl digestion. Who hasn’t wondered about the process? I mean, come on. It’s fascinating. Check it out – one of those nocturnal flying Ninjas swoops silently out of the sky, snatches up some poor vole, and swallows it in one gulp! Mmm, tiny rodents are delicious!
This is where the cool comes in. They’ve got two stomachs – one that does all the digesting, which does the best job it can, and the other stomach for, um, storage. See, owls do a great job at digesting all the meat and guts off of their mammalian meals, but bones, teeth and hair are indigestible. What’s an owl to do with the leftovers? …
