We are moving to the USA!!!!

Bonaventure Welcome

Alrighty! Our travel project For 91 Days gives us all kind of freedom. So after Oviedo we decided to spend the next 3 month in the US. I got hired to do a photo-job in Denver, so there is already one flight paid AND we haven’t been back to the US (I mean for more than 2 weeks) in 9 years.

Now we need your help! The question is where to move to?

Mike, Chucky (our dog) and I are spoiled by the Valencia Sun – and we will be in the US from beginning of November to the end of January 2011. The city should have a decent size and have a real downtown with a nice winter climate and tons to do.

BUT!

It can’t be a super, super well-known and overdone since we want to blog about our adventures and don’t want to write about things everybody already knows about.

Right now we are thinking Savannah!?

What do you think? Do you have maybe a suggestion for us?

And in case you think Savannah is a great choice – do you know anyone renting a place WITH internet? :)

Curious to find out about your thoughts.

if you are thinking of Savannah, I’d urge you a little further north and tell you to go to Charleston, SC, instead. I lived there for three years (and have visited Savannah often) and I think it is vastly superior. It’s prettier and safer and has a much larger area of beautiful town than Savannah does. There are also a lot more charming communities around Charleston than you find in Savannah, and the history is better since it is quite a bit older.

Hello Taylor – Thank you for the feedback. We considered Charleston as well. How is it there during the winter month?

We are not 100% set on Savannah yet, we are still looking and eager to get some more thoughts on where to live.

We also heard great things about Asheville, NC. But it’s cold in the winter month.

The importance is #1 warmth :) and then tons to do.

I’ve hard that Denver as a city is not too exciting. But we will looking to that.

Thank you all for you input.

Charleston and Savannah have extremely similar weather, so Savannah may be a little farther south, but it won’t be any warmer in the winter. Neither are very cold and have short, mild winters. I live in Massachusetts now, and I miss wearing tshirts in February. Asheville is gorgeous, but it does have cold winters since it is in the mountains.

T-Shirts in February sounds GREAT :) Someone mentioned to look into St. Augustine, FL since it got founded by an Asturian. Would be a great connection sine we are in Ovideo right now:

I have friends in Denver who love it there. If you find yourself in LA, and don’t mind meetups with random strangers from the Internet, let me know. :)

I definitely can’t suggest the Northeast, even though I’ve lived and traveled around here all my life. November to January it is nasty cold, and everyone who can stays indoors, so it’s kind of boring. If you happened to be here during warmer weather, I could give you a genuine Jersey Shore experience, though!

Bellingham, WA….it is 2 hours north of Seattle and only 45 from Vancouver, BC. It has a very mild climate. There is not a lot of sun but there so much to do around the area. It has town of outdoor actives.
