I think it’s safe to say that almost everyone has been affected by the world financial crisis, and it’s been especially tough on those who have lost their jobs. Thrown into uncertainty, fear and instability, suddenly being without a job is a terrifying prospect.
Are you looking for a job? Do you need support? Tips and tricks from others who’ve managed to find jobs during these difficult times? Do you want to hear success stories for extra inspiration?
Well, Monster.com just launched a jobseeker community, providing support for those on the hunt. Check it out, get motivated, and pick up a few great tips as well. And if Greg’s story is not a kick in the butt, then I don’t know!
Greg Drevenstedt, road test editor for Rider Magazine, found his dream job on Monster.com on the very first
day of his job search. Greg now travels the world testing and evaluating new motorcycles and gear, while writing
stories and shooting video about his experiences. There is a video of Greg telling his story here.
Sounds like a dream job to me!
I’ve got a personal tip I’d like to share, as well. As a freelance photographer and blogger I’m constantly job hunting. Every day, I try different ways to get my name out there, with the hope of landing something. I’ve learned that looking for a job, is a job in itself — and best treated like one. Wake up early, shower and get dressed, and get to work. Eight hours a day! Short lunch break! After-work drink (very important!)
Monster.com has actually touched my life, personally, as well. Eleven years ago, Mike found a job via Monster.com as a software engineer upon graduation college in Ohio. He was hired by a company in Cambridge, Ma, where we soon met. We have been together ever since.
Anyways, check out the Monster.com Community Wall. If you share your tips and success stories you have the chance to win some great prices (for example a laptop, $5.000 gift cards, and other prices)
