A Lucky Koala called Lucky

It’s been a while since I posted… I have moved interstate for a new job, and am now sitting bored in a hotel in Qinhuangdau, China on a business trip… so here goes:

This little Koala was watching a bit too much OutKast and Ludacris and decided to get himself some new grills [wiki]. So he found a car heading along a highway in Brisbane, and decided to try on the grill of a mid-sized sedan.

The car was traveling at 100kph (60 miles), and he ended up being dragged for 12 kilometres until another motorist noticed the poor little fella and flagged the car down.

“To have him survive and virtually unscathed is quite miraculous,” Australian Wildlife Hospital spokeswoman Carolyn Beaton told Reuters on Tuesday.

“Lucky” hung on during his ordeal with one arm and his trapped head, and was freed with household scissors used like a fireman’s “jaws-of-life” to cut around the car’s mesh grill with the horrified owner’s permission, Beaton said.

“Whilst Lucky was in shock, he quickly recovered and was nearly better after a couple of hours rest and a feed,” she said.

Lucky will stay at the hospital, set up by the late television wildlife and crocodile crusader Steve Irwin, for 45 days to recover from his experience and receive treatment for a chlamydial infection.

I guess those Gangsta rapping koalas are also susceptible to STI’s.
