back to the future toy car

Now is your chance in case the Back to the Future Car Auction on eBay was not in your budget you can own a smaller version of that time machine.

Ok, first, the doors of the Back to the Future Lights and Sound DeLorean open. And you can fit most GI Joe and Star Wars figures inside. Then there’s a button to activate one of the 10 sound and lights combos – from the engine starting up, to the time circuits engaging, to a "return from time travel to a screeching halt"! Plus, there’s a lever on the bottom. Slide that, and the wheels (with real rubber times) rotate into flying position. We could go on and on and one about the Back to the Future Lights and Sound DeLorean, but truth be told, we’d rather play with it instead. Zartan and 4-LOM are going to visit Plato today. Vroooom . . . pchew, pchew, pchew . . . explosion . . . back in time, baby!

It will set you back 30 minutes :) Anyway – Walmart is cutting down DVD prices (up to 66% on some new releases) + free shipping and Amazon following suit!

For example – Star Trek XI (Widescreen)

Pretty sweet and all but for that price tag I kind of expect the time machine to work for real.

1981 Delorean DMC-12 expertly modified to look exactly like the vehicle featured in the film “Back to the Future.” This incredibly accurate replica of the Delorean Time Machine was painstakingly built by Gary Weaver, owner of www.bttfparts.com, over the course of 2 years, from 2006-2008. This is the only car Gary has ever built on commission, and, other than his own personal car, is the only one he has finished to his complete satisfaction.

There is a small community of Delorean Time Machine enthusiasts who convert their stock Deloreans in to time machine replicas, and right from the beginning, Gary was one of the few striving for complete “screen accuracy.” His website served as a hub of activity for the entire hobby, and his skills and attention to detail were the envy of everyone else trying to build their own conversion. Gary is even featured in an upcoming documentary about the Delorean Time Machine. By the time this car was finished, he had spent over 6 years researching parts, refining fabrication techniques and essentially preparing to build what is truly the one of, if not the most accurate Delorean Time Machine replica vehicle currently in existence.

Everyone heard about the Netflix Prize . The person or team to improve their recommendation system by certain requirements gets a Million bucks. Sounds great?

    Well, we run Criticker:

    recoomedations

We’ve always been a two-man team, without any funding or venture capital money, and completely unaffiliated with any other site. And couple of our users suggested to take part in the Netflix Prize. We looked into it and read their T&C and decided to sooo not take part. Since everything you submit to Netflix Prize goes over in their possession.

So 1 Millions sounds good but at the end Netflix paid $1 an hour in development and probably gained resources not related to make their recommendations better.

The New York Times has an interesting article – stating that a almost Netflix Prize winner has regrets.

We are very happy that we stood away from it and that we got to keep our simple but very effective movie recommendation algorithm.
