Dear readers! We finally arrived in Sri Lanka and are on our second day in Colombo and are loving it. Above you can see Mike braving a cobra and I actually never have seen him scared like that. I gladly skipped on that experience.

The last two weeks couldn’t be more full of contrasts. We finished our 91 Days in Palermo – spent 2 weeks with friends and family in the US and then flew half across the globe to Sri Lanka, which took 2 days!!!

2 two weeks were wonderful and very sad as well. We had to put our dog Chucky to sleep. She got to be 10 years old, she had cancer in her lungs and was really suffering on her last 5 days of her life. Deciding that it is better to find her final rest was probably the hardest thing I had to do in my life. She was such a good dog and such a world traveler. We got her in Berlin, we moved with her to Ireland and Valencia. Then we took her to Savannah, GA and Buenos Aires. And had a wonderful time with her in Palermo.

That was tough but I had some great highlights as well. I got to celebrate the 1st birthday of my nephew and my own as well. Mike’s parents took me out to the French Lick casino in Indiana. I had a blast.

And before we flew to Sri Lanka we got to spent 8 hours in NYC, to do some sightseeing and to meet friends.

- Our Travel Books

We turned now our last year of traveling into 4 separate Travel eBooks. So from each past 3 month stays (Savannah, Oviedo, Buenos Aires, Bolivia) we produced books available now as Mobi, PDF file and available as an eBook on Kindle. That’s all good but how do you get people to buy your book?

Well, we generated couple of sales and the books being mostly sold are the Savannah and Buenos Aires Book.  Oviedo is very slow but right now it’s not the season to travel there ( too cold and rainy) and Bolivia was just released couple of days ago.

Maybe the main selling point is probably the connections our blog readers have with our site, purchasing the book because they enjoyed reading our site. The price of it  $7.99 seems fair and after the cut from the Bookseller we still make a decent amount from it.

We asked our readers to mention it on their twitter and facebook which really helped in increasing the sales.

But what are other ways to market the travel books? I invested couple of $$$ in Adwords but can’t really tie back a sale to those ads. I was looking to submit the books to eBook directories but most them are only for Free Books! No luck, I wish there was a directory for pay travel books!

Now selling the books on Amazon opens the door to a lot of potential buyers, that said the eBook market will multiply by 10 times in the next 5 years ( Thanks to the Kindle fire) but it’s almost like it’s with Google, you need to show up in search results as high as possible on the keywords which apply to your book.

For example if I take the keywords “buenos aires guide” for the Buenos Aires book I land on page 2 position 22 (checked again, now it’s # 17). That’s not terrible butd I wish we would be on page 1! Now how can I increase that position?

The more books you sell, reviews being written about it, stars given, liked and tagged the higher you will rank in the Amazon search results = the more sales you will make.

You have seen and heard it right – they have a wine pumping station here in Palermo, Sicily where you bring your own container and you just start filling. The wine isn’t bad at all and our 5 Liter container fills up nicely for only 5 Euros. Now the dangerous thing is that the wine pumping station is right around the corner from where we live. There is just no excuse not to have wine in the house and not to drink any. Well, Cheers then !

One week in Orlando and I honestly tried to stay awake from theme parks as much as I could. I went to Orlando Downtown on a Saturday which felt like a city swept clean by Zombies, Winter Park cute neighborhood with stores and cafés (mostly Starbucks) and saw the Orchard World. That flower park sounded very promising but it was totally run down and within the gardens there were no orchards at all, except for maybe one. Within in the store there more.

On my last day I ran out of all options, so I drove to the Magic Kingdom  parking lot and took the Monorail to the Epcot Center (it even loops inside the park) to see the Mother Earth Ship. As a kid I always wanted to see it. Now since I did I will never ever going to a Disney Park again (unless with kids). I don’t understand how people can go there every single year but never left the US for a vacation!!!!

FRIENDS! I’m back. I’ve been away from Palermo for over 2 weeks. The first week we spent in Germany and the other week I went to Orlando for a photo job (Orlando pictures will be posted tomorrow or so). Being back in Germany, in my hometown was tons of fun but really weird at the same time too. Everything was so familiar but a lot of things changed as well. I know it’s selfish but realizing that things are changing even when I’m not around was kind of shocker. Kind of !

Then we attended our first gay wedding (besides ours of course) and they celebrated HUGE. My favorite part was when the couple came out of the city hall all dressed up after they just signed the papers and people passing by and just couldn’t figure out what was going on and they were kind of waiting for the brides!

Ciao! We arrived in Palermo on Saturday. We had a pretty smooth trip. First we fly with our dog to Rome and then rented a car to drive down to Sicily. We stopped in a small town half way in a hotel and had our first encounter how it will be to be in a country where we don’t speak the language. Well, we managed ! We did initial exploring, had already great pizza and can’t wait to see more of Palermo and whole Sicily. Have you been to Sicily and Palermo please share them with us via the comments.

I never really considered Paris for our For 91 Days Travel Blog but after spending 5 days there, things changed. Not sure what because I have been to Paris before many times but this time the city touched me. Would have like to stay 3 month to explore every single corner of this city. But, it would be expensive – finding a place in a great location (overlooking Paris , of course) with internet would be hard. Oh, well one day! Enjoy the last images of Paris from my trip.

Great Hostels and Hotels in Paris

Time to celebrate! I have been blogging now over 5 years, 3 1/2 years of travel blogging and 1 year we have been traveling our site For 91 Days (leaving everything behind, not having a real home). We are back in Valencia and had some time (more or less) to catch up with work and to turn our Savannah Blog of For 91 Days into an eBook. Which is available on Amazon (Kindle) and for direct download as PDF or Mobi File (which is the open source format for eReaders).

It just went online! And we are very pleased! Our biggest concern was how the pictures will look in B&W on the Kindle Reader and as you can see it looks pretty good. Any other reading device will show our full color images.

Our whole content is still available on our blog but we figured that some people maybe prefer to download our whole blog on a reader, which allows them to read the articles without internet. Our Travel eBook is not a conventional travel guide (niche and stuff) but after reading our posts from our 3 month in Savannah you will get a pretty good sense what Savannah is about. Especially helpful if you consider to relocate there. But it is also great for every person traveling there – you will find stuff which is not in every Travel Guide.

So far we sold 2 Kindle versions and one 1 PDF file! Which is just incredible.

So I was walking around Paris to snap some pictures for my client. Was wondering around the plaza in front of Notre Dame and that’s when I saw people holding up bread. At first it looked like a religious offering or something. But after stepping closer I realized people were just birding. Birding is the new trending thing. Birding is basically feeding birds in front of famous buildings or backdrops. Everyone can take part and it is less dangerous than planking, batmanning. And kids can take part too. Great Hostels and Hotels in Paris

Back in Valencia and counting down the days before we are leaving for Palermo, Italy our next destination for our Travel Blog. While in Paris I got hired by a huge German Business magazine to take photographs in Spain right after that assignment in. And in between jobs I went to Germany to pick up our dog and fly to Spain. Mike was waiting for us at the airport in Madrid. He went to Valencia and continued with my assignment. Crazy thing was .. it brought me back to Oviedo, our very first 91 Days location.

On the first day back in Valencia – we got interviewed a local newspaper in Valencia and half an hour later by TVE which is the national program in Spain.

And on that same evening I got hired to do an other photo shooting in Orlando, USA. What is going on???? Loving it!
