You know “The Book” changed so many things for Savannah and drove (and still is driving) tons of tourists to Savannah. Thanks to the detailed descriptions of the book it’s easy feel set right into the story when walking through Savannah’s Squares. The problem now is – that people think they are something else because of the book and really anal about giving photo permissions (Mercer House). So for me and our travel blog it’s kind of pointless to walk through a place, pay admission and they don’t let me take any pictures. I then don’t rather want to see and don’t know and don’t have the itchy feeling in my index finger wanting to hit the shutter of my camera. For Christ sake the let me take pictures of Dali, Picasso, Miró, Serrano, etc at the Reina Sophia museum in Madrid. Honestly get over yourself.

Sorry for the little rant – but I feel better now!

So back to this mansion, due to a lucky circumstance we got to meet an owner of a classic, huge, fancy, brick stone mansion in Savannah. We got to explore the house, talk to the owner (he actually knew several Savannah characters from “The Book” (he even rented out a place to one of the main figures of The Book).

Hello Folks! Taking the portraits yesterday were a great success and I already got some great pictures of Denver to get along with the photo-assignment. Here couple of images I won’t be able to send to my client but thought they were interesting enough for Random Good Stuff !

Denver has a more lively Downtown (not like ATLANTA) and have seen most of it yesterday. Especially like Market Street and Lower Downtown with it’s strange sculptures and architecture. I also thought this building with the Arabic ornaments were cool too. It reminded me a lot of the Alhambra in Granada.

Yesterday I also tried to find a good Sim card deal with broadband so I can use my iPhone during the stay here in the US. Used to pay 6 Euros min. usage incl. 300 MB but I seem to fail to find a similar deal. Oh well, I keep hunting.

Stockholm has a new landmark attraction called Globen Sky View. The Konverket fountain was already breathtaking but these outside railed globe elevators are truly something else!

The Sky view globe elevators run outside the Ericsson Globe which is currently the largest hemispherical building in the world and took two and a half years to build. Shaped like a large white ball, it has a diameter of 110 metres (361 feet) and an inner height of 85 metres (279 feet). The volume of the building is 605,000 cubic metres (21,188,800 cubic feet). It has seating capacity for 16,000 spectators for shows and concerts, and 13,850 for ice hockey. (wiki)

• The Ericsson Globe has been reinforced with 70 tons of steel that has been put together by mountain climbers
• The rail weighs 42 ton, that’s almost 93 000 pounds
• The gondolas are built by ski lift builders in north of Sweden
• each ride takes 20 minutes
• The gondols depart six times per hour

He also got hired to designthe World Trade Center Transportation Hub. Anyways, right now he is building this huge monster right in the middle of Oviedo.

From far away it’s very distracting – it just does not fit in there. But from closer up it’s AWESOME. It messes with you mind – optical illusions all over the place.

Wondering how we are doing here in Oviedo and with our new project For 91 Days?

So far it has been awesome and we are not regretting our decision to become Digital Nomads. Couple of highlights of the last (and first) 3 weeks here.

• Day Trip to Gijon
• Central Market Oviedo
• Picturesque Oviedo

And our decision where to go next is settled now too – SAVANNAH, GA! I think it’s interesting and tons to do which should keep us busy for 91 days. But we have one problem .. we can’t find a decent place near or in the Historic Center which allows our little French Bulldog girl.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN APARTMENT IN SAVANNAH!

Can anyone help? We are good house sitters too

- Great Hotels in Oviedo

You might have guessed – I was traveling again. Well, it was more like visiting family in Hessen and friends in good old Berlin. Get ready for some neat pictures from Germany in this and followings posts.

I’m starting off with couple of images I took in Darmstadt (my hometown) and Heppenheim located on the picturesque Bergstrasse. The crazy thing is that I grew up just 30 minutes from that town and I never managed to visit their historic town center. It’s almost like people who live in Paris and never went on top of the Eifel tower. Well kind of.

One of the highlight of visiting Granada was the Alhambra and it Nazrid Palace. It was incredible – I didn’t even know something like this would even exist in Europe. The whole architecture was straight from 1001 Arabian Nights. People actually lived there, including Irving Washington where he wrote Tales of the Alhambra.

I also liked running in the ghost of the Alhambra (last picture) but it seems like I wasn’t the only one since his shape was used in their tile art. Isn’t he cute.

I’m back home now for over a week and I have been pretty busy and just finally found some time to upload the first set of Atlanta pictures. Atlanta was very strange and partly deserted and with probably the strangest downtown area I experienced in a US city. Don’t get me started on the “Underground” I mean how can you recommend that to any visitors. Scrap this on all tourist guides for Atlanta. I did like the architecture (sometimes reminded me of the Hansaviertel in Berlin) and the contrasts of old and new. Loved that strange Marriott Hotel and the inside CNN studio tour. Skipped the Coca Cola and the Aquarium which is like effen $56! Sorry, I don’t have that budget for that.

Calatrava’s tourist magnet in Valencia is the City of Arts and Sciences, a collection of insanely designed buildings which cost a fortune a day just to maintain.

Never felt like taking tons of pictures of it, since everyone can take great pictures of these buildings. But yesterday I truly felt inspired.
