This is the stationary bicycle that uses an epicyclic transmission system that provides magnetic resistance for intensive spinning workouts. Inspired by 19th-century monowheels, its 36" diameter flywheel is driven by a chainring system consisting of four gears with varying cogs-every pedal rotation by a rider results in four flywheel rotations, thus a rider spinning at 100 rpms causes the flywheel to spin at 400 rpms. At such high rpms, a copper ring fixed to the flywheel’s exterior works with six magnets installed around the flywheel’s enclosure to generate a magnetic field that provides 12 levels of resistance, controlled by a touch-screen display.
