Along with a removable roof, the Schwimmcaravan comes complete with a cooking-washing module, cooler, heater, table and two benches that can be converted to enlarge the deck area. Sealander can also pimp-up this floating thingummy withvarious optional extras, including a loo (but that doesn’t mean its manufacturers advocate ‘messing about’ on the water). They’ll even deliver it in whatever colour you fancy.

This must be one of the most handy trekking – hiking gadgets you can get your hands on.

This incredible piece of kit is not only sturdy enough to boil and serve up to 1.1 litres (almost 2 pints) of water at a time, but it’ll also pack flatter than a typical army mess tin. Just sit it over your gas, electric or induction stove and the sturdy stainless steel base will heat the water inside. Once it has cooled, the tough silicone body will collapse easily into itself, ready to slide into a day pack or rucksack.

We are not even 3 weeks in Bolivia but have fallen totally in love with this country. Yes, we both had our share of food poisoning but it’s all worth it. First that incredible train ride through the Andes, then just the week before I went for my very first time over night trekking, yes I never camped out before … I’m a sissy like that. It was a 3 day hike down a Inca trail, past a waterfall, into a crater and down hill again towards hot sprints. It was quite adventure, since on the last day started our day way too late. So the most dangerous part we had to manage in pitch darkness down a slippery hill. Then we had to cross the river, which was way too strong and at the first attempt to cross it our guide got swept away. We were able to safe him. So the uncross able river added an other 1 hour. But then we got treated with food delivered to us while sitting in the hot springs. During that hike I took this amazing picture of the stars over the Andes. Read about the hike here: Part 1 and Part 2.

Well … and after the hike and the train ride we stranded in Potosi, the once richest, biggest, highest and most important city in the world. There we too the silver mine tour of the Cerro Rico. This was probably the most scary thing I have ever done. Read about it here: Potisi Mine Tour

We still have more than 2 month left in Potosi and many adventures ahead. Next week we are leaving for the Uyuni Salt Lakes. So stay tuned.

Super practical and full of good plastic design! Perfect for camping!!!

The exterior of the lamp is an actual rubber balloon, which can be deflated for storage or travel. The hook at the top allows you to hang the lamp anywhere you need it; in storage rooms, by your reading nook, or even in a tent when camping! The internal, high-power LED bulb puts out plenty of illumination without getting hot, and turns on and off with a twist of the base. Just two, easily replaceable lithium-coin batteries can power the lamp for 100 hours of continuous use. Comes with two balloons

This is the jacket that converts to a lightweight sleeping bag and shelter in minutes, providing handy overnight accommodation without the bulk and weight of traditional separate items. The waterproof, breathable 3.1 oz. urethane-coated, rip-stop nylon rain jacket stows both the integrated three-season sleeping bag and the shelter in separate zippered pouches.

Built-in elastic suspenders help distribute the weight of the sleeping bag across the shoulders and an attached mosquito net deters insects. The shelter pulls over the head, neck, and shoulders to form a wedge using two semi-circular panels that divert rain when lying supine; straps attach with hook-and-loop fasteners beneath the body, providing the shelter’s rigidity.

Not too long ago I saw in a Germany TV program a show mentioning this electronic mosquito sting healer and I thought I should get myself one. Here in Spain it’s absolutely necessary to prevent stings or minimize the itch after it’s too late. Especially since our neighbor decided to hold turtles in this mosquito breeding baby pool.

Yikes!

They have two models, the mouse and the cobra (which you can see above in the pictures). You press the button wait until the green light goes on (heating up to 50 Celsius) then press the metallic field onto the sting and wait until the light goes off again.

The 50 Celsius are hot enough to desolve the poison and it will reduce the itch feeling right away and it helps the healing process. That temperature might be uncomfortable while you apply it but won’t burn or harm you and it’s a small price to pay compared to the itch feeling.

I can also see that this is very helpful to people who are very sensitive to mosquito stings and besides that it also helps with wasp, hornets and horse-flies bites.

And did I mention it really works!!!

So I wrote this company praising their product and told them that I would love to feature their product on RGS. They thought it was a great idea and are giving you a 1,50 Euro ($ 1.80) rebate!!!

if you use rebate code: itchy2010

AND – right now during the world cup 2010 they are having a special 5 Euro off offer. So if you order right now the Cobra (the one I have) will cost you less than 22 bucks.

No chemicals!!!

More information in English: Bite Away

Order it here: Bite Away

The basket itself is in German – they do ship world wide but are just overwhelmed by the huge interest by the German media right now and not have gotten time to translate the ordering process.

But it is fairly easy:

Press zur Kasse and it will lead you here:

Then it leads you to an other overview and click on “Bestellung abschliessen” to finish your order then a new page with “Jetzt bezahlen” click there and It will lead you to the paypal page.

DONE!

If you have any question or need help with the order let me know. Why am I doing all this? I’m not really getting anything out of this but I think they are having a great new product and deserve worldwide press and it’s German engineering after all

Unless you’re some kind of Bear Grylls style survival weirdo, you’ll know how difficult it can be getting a decent hot meal when you’re enjoying the great outdoors. Besides, who can be bothered with all that twig rubbing malarkey? Not us because we’ve discovered HotCans.

Despite sounding like a chain of dodgy lap dancing clubs, these amazing 400g tins of yumminess contain delicious ready meals that heat up, as if by magic, when you crack ‘em open. No hob, campfire or washing up liquid required.

With this Snack Sandwich Maker you can make a toasted cheese sandwich, a Pizza Calzone or a cherry turnover quickly and easily with no mess, no plug, no problem! The snack maker is easy to use: Simply start with a slice of bread over one side of the open snack maker, add your favorite sandwich ingredients and another slice of bread. Then close the snack maker and heat over a gas stove, coiled electric stove, or a campfire, turning frequently. Campers love them!

With this sleeping bag you can camp out anywhere without being scared someone will harm you. Other bears might try to mate with you though! Hopefully you will have catastrophic health insurance if the worst actually happens.
