People think since we run a travel blog, that we don’t need vacations. Actually since traveling we are even working more and a week once in while does us really good. Next vacation, well closest to it, is when we are back in Valencia in mid August for a month. There our travel blog rests and we just do regular work ( a lot of catching up to do ) and go to the beach . The countdown is on!

With our Vacation Countdown Clock, you’ll know exactly how many more days, hours, minutes, and seconds you must wait for fun in the sun and sand! Once your vacation arrives, you can reset the timer for your next vacation … up until the year 2099 (that’s a long way away!)

Wondering what energy class those tubes are in? Are those tubes consuming tons of energy?

This assembled clock INCLUDES six plug-in IN18 nixie tubes – some other ‘nixie clocks’ do not! The nixie tubes themselves are classified as New Old Stock – (NOS), as they were made at least 15 years ago, but have never been used. Unlike some other designs which use smaller (13 mm) or a rather naff ‘upside down’ 2’s for the 5 numeral, The BigTime features genuine, Russian IN18 tubes, with their beautifully formed 40 mm high numerals. These are the now very largest nixie tubes that are still available in reasonable commercial quantities.

The BigTime isn’t like just any other nixie clock on the market…

Direct Drive Display (not multiplexed), for quieter, longer nixie tube life

Precision Temperature Compensated Crystal (TCXO) for +/- 30 seconds / year accuracy, or even better

Software controlled LED backlighting of nixie tubes (in Cool White)

Surface Mount technology facilitates a lower profile, shallower case

High efficiency, compact switched-mode mains power supply (external "Wall-wart" type) for UK, Europe and USA

Mirror-finish polished, precision-machined, Aluminium case

Fully remote controlled – The BigTime contains no (0) moving parts! (well, OK, apart from one reset switch)

Large Six-digit display showing hours, minutes, seconds, or day, month, year

Super-smooth fading between digits

12 or 24-hour hour display mode

Indicators for AM/PM, time, and alarm-set mode

Alarm, with snooze

European or US date display formats

Simple hourly beeps or complex “Westminster” chimes with software selectable Silent-Night mode

Plays “Happy Birthday” on up to four specified dates

Other “Easter Eggs” for you to find!

Automatic leap-year calculation

Universal Automatic Daylight Savings Time calculation for almost all geographies, including new US DST rules (2007 onwards)

Manual or automatic display brightness

Safe, low-voltage design, via a 12V DC “wall-wart” UK, EU or US power supply

On-board SuperCap retains The BigTime’s time and settings for a minimum of 7 days in the event of power loss

On-board loudspeaker for more compact design

Optional external temperature probe (-50C to 120C, or 58F to +255F )

Optional relay output to drive slave clocks or other equipment

Optional GPS receiver for permanent atomic precision

Every BigTime is individually serial numbered and comes with its own certification

Ach, still in the office? Man, you love sleeping in he? Could only keep it up 2 1/2 minutes … you are a douche bag!

As you can see, this sleek timepiece uses a pair of pupils to indicate the time. Left eye ‘looks’ to the hours, right eye ‘looks’ to the minutes. Once you‘ve got your head around the concept it’s a doddle. Big hand pointing to the twelve? Pah!

An eye-deal gift for hip clock watchers bored of all that big hand/little hand business, the battery-operated Eye Clock is guaranteed to attract befuddled but admiring glances wherever you choose to plonk it.

The clock consists of two adjacent rolls, contained in a clear acrylic tube. A red mark indicates the line that should be read to tell the time. The left roll spells out five minute increments of time. The right roll contains the numbers one to twelve, spelled out. The gearing is such that as the minutes turn to “twenty-five minutes to,” the hour roll advances.

Would be even better without that huge logo!

No batteries are required to power this futuristic clock. Fill it with any liquid – water, juice, milk, even beer – and it will keep accurate time and date displayed.

What the hell? How am I supposed to read that clock. Ah, I get it – it’s just decoration. Right?

Reminiscent of the Rosetta Stone this multi-format alarm clock helps you easily convert between different numbering systems. Do you need to be able to effortlessly read the time in Binary or Hexadecimal? Well that’s debatable – but quickly converting a time display like C:2B into 12:43 (while others stare blankly at this clock) makes it pretty clear that you are a human possessing superior number skills.

Like the enigmatic monolith from 2001, this clock will appear only as a mysterious geometric shape to those of inferior intelligence. The more evolved will easily decode the elegant time display rendered by its LEDs. Others may appreciate beautiful words or works of art but your language has always been numbers, the closest expression of eternal truth.
