Summer is coming to an end, hope everyone had a great time. For us German we get now excited for the Oktoberfest. Truth told, I never have been and I only would go with this Bavarian Helmet ( they also have  version for men but thought this is prettier). Tons of head injuries every year from people falling from benches. And if you decide to go this year. please bring tons of Condoms. You know … you never know !

One of the reasons why love Spain is because of it’s crazy festivals. We experienced so many great and unforgettable moments during our 2 year stay in Spain. Here are some of the greatest festivals besides the one you see above. Our favorite though is Fallas (click the links, they lead to some crazy stuff) and then come these: The Traslado de la Virgen – Paseo de las Rocas 2010 – Dia de America.

Savannah is known for it’s St. Patrick’s day but we already gone again to our next destination.

- Crazy Hostels

Here some footage I found of people being stuck at the Loveparade – you probably heard about it already. 19 people died and over 300 people got (seriously) injured. I just can’t imagine how something like this can happen and especially in GERMANY with all it’s regulations.

Who is to blame? The organizers and the city – there was only space for 250.000 people on the grounds but everyone who ever heard or knows anything about the Loveparade knows that’s not enough!!! Over a millions showed up which caused a stampede. People got stuck between tunnels when they realized the main grounds are too packed and while they tried to leave through the tunnels more and more people still arrived from the other end and people got stuck.

I just can’t get over it!

I read about it first on CNN on Saturday and the worst was reading the comments of some readers. First of all – why even have comments on a news piece like this (disgusting CNN). Shame on those people – I wish you the worst.

Only 48 more days and I will be annoying you again with Fallas from Valencia. On February 28th is the charming awakening of the city and the events will be going on and on until the main days which are from March 15th and 19th.

That’s when you come, the last 5 days are the most interesting days to visit Valencia. This festival will be the craziest thing you will ever experience in your life and will be burned deeply in your brain. Why not visit Valencia for Fallas 2010!!!

Why I’m I writing about it that early? Because right now tickets for flights, hotels and hostels in Valencia are still pretty cheap. But prices will explode soon. Last year in a shared hostel room … a bed was over $200 per night. So booking early is an argument.

Usually medieval festivals are pretty lame but the one we went to in El Puig near Valencia Spain was pretty sweet. A part of the town was transformed, and looked like it was back in the day.

I have seen tons of fireworks ever since we moved to Valencia. But what they were showing on Thursday night for the International Firework Festival was just incredible. And they showed things I never have seen before. They shot fireworks off a crane to create a giant fire wheel. Breathtaking!

Valencia is holding it’s very first German Beerfest – the Oktoberfest. Of course we went and it was bizarre. The tent was put up in the center of the bullfight arena. No German Blasmusik but almost as crazy as the real thing.

I’m German and it’s a shame I never made it to Munich for the Oktoberfest. But it’s kind of cool to get my Oktoberfestvirginity taken at that occasion here in Spain.

Emm … Yikes. Ok I hate fresh tomatoes. In sauce, cooked, ketch-up, soup, juice no problem but I could never bite into a whole fresh ones. It totally grosses me out. So above festival is a huge NO for me. I’d go and film and take pictures from a Balcony for our Valencia blog, since the town Buñol is only 30 minutes from Valencia. But actually being down there swimming in tomato puree. No Thank you. I should add my disgust to the Random Good Stuff post about weird phobias. !

The reason I’m not there is the cost for a spot on a balcony is juicy € 3.000 per person. Apparently a group of foreigners booked all balconies, hotel and hostels in Buñol, so they can make huge profits from it. Talking of destroying a fun for everyone tradition for some profits! And the tourist office in Valencia has not attention to help us out with anything even though for a lot of things we are the English speaking resource #1! So buck it!

So much fun. Yet an other bizarre festival here in Valencia. It’s not like Valencia is extremely hit by the crisis, why not throw thousands of flowers! Why not – it makes everyone .. happy!
