Take a close look and be more than kind of freaked out by this creature. Too bad it doesn’t say where this restaurant it. I want to encounter this weird beast of strange movements. And if you think monkey business you think right. I would be so distracted to being able to enjoy my meal – Great strategy for a restaurant with crappy food. With this entertainment it would be always packed.

May I urge you to read this love letter and then guess where I had the pleasure to read these lovely and yet all so juicy words. We are in our last month here in Savannah and met already great people. These great people took us out on a ride to the Old School Diner which is 40 minutes south of Savannah. We had not idea what to expect but let me tell you we were not prepared and that night in that restaurant will be stuck in our heads for the rest of our lives. Restaurants like this are normally not my thing but after a whole day of sightseeing in Philadelphia we thought we deserve a little treat and it was a recommendation from a good friend of mine.

Before the food arrived I was very, very skeptical because of the interior design and the service. But the interior looked better once the restaurant was packed with people (empty it kind of felt like a hospital) and from the moment we walked in and until we ordered we got asked if this our “first time” – “oh is it your first time at Morimoto” – “you will truly love your first experience here” like a thousand times! Man! I know what are you trying to do … you want to make this restaurant sound very special. It’s just not possible that there still people who haven’t been to Morimoto. I know, we are a rare species.

And guess what – I don’t give a… that the chef was participant of the “Iron Chef” and no you don’t have to explain the menu. I get the concept of a restaurant. I look at the menu – read what you got and ORDER! Man! Just leave me alone – you don’t have to make me feel special.

Besides all that – the food was really, really good. The Sushi sample war incredible, my pork belly tender and full of flavor, the tempura a treat, the kobe like butter and the steak very very yummy.

But surprisingly best for some reason was the Wasabi Rice side dish!

- Great Korean Restaurant

One of our good friends from Berlin recently opened Kimchi Princess, a Korean restaurant offering authentic bulgogi, kimchi and other famous dishes. It’s been open for a year, but we weren’t able to check it out until our recent trip to Berlin. She needed over 3 years to find the perfect location, but the wait was worth it. The food was so incredible, we had to go twice.

And I’m not just saying that because the owner is my friend! In less than a year, Kimchi Princess has become one of the most popular restaurants in Berlin. If you want to eat there on a weekend, you have to book well in advance… the tables go quickly. Like Berlin itself, Kimchi Princess is hip and modern, and provides an intensely satisfying and original experience.

I especially love that Kimchi Princess is prepared to host big gatherings, with its long wooden tables. The restaurant is perfect for birthdays or other celebrations … but don’t hesitate to go even if it’s just for two.

Here’s what you should try:

• Kimchi Crépe
• Samgyopsal Gui (almost like bacon)
• Bibimbap (served in a hot stone bowl)
• Wash everything down with Seoul Mule (delicious cocktail with cucumber sticks – which is so refreshing!!! It deserves to be summer cocktail of 2010)
• Aaaaaannnnd .. Watermelon ice cream for dessert

There is nothing worse than have a wobble table in a pub or restaurant – My verdict WonKey is awesome.

This neat little keyring-friendly rubber oojamaflip wedges under wonky table legs, thus levelling things out for the duration of your meal. Brilliant! Just slip it off your keyring and runaway peas will be history. It’s so quick and easy you might even cop a look up your date’s dress. Did we just type that out loud? Oops.

Mega promise – this is the very last Vienna post. So we walked into this café/restaurant to escape the rain to grab a glass of wine and there he was. Charming, Austrian and spoke tons of different languages. He even took requests to play songs from other countries. Incredible guy.

This video I didn’t take with the VPC-CS1 but with the Canon 7d. A pretty huge difference! The Sanyo is the perfect camera to just pop into you pocket to take footage of things you might run into and don’t feel like lugging around heavy equipment. The Canon 7d is for incredible HD footage and wants to be put on a tripod.

Also – this time I edited the video with Powerdirector 8 Deluxe – I was just used other programs but after getting familiar with it, it’s actually a pretty powerful editing tool. Renders fast and produces great HD videos.

Doesn’t this look like a dish from a fairy tale? On my recent trip to Helsinki we went to a Lapland restaurant called Lappi. We had reindeer, moose, salmon, tons of berries, smoked fish. Was very odd and I think I never ate that much meat for a dinner.

We started off with an vodka berries aperitif, above you see the appetizer Lappish plate for two and for the main course Lappish game selection for two:

Emm .. BWOAH!

And coffee afterward to calm down the stomach. Over there they have these wooden cups which last for 50 years or so but do cost 45 Euros. Tempted to buy a cup but the coffee did taste kind of woody.

Reindeer, anyone .. ? Hey, stop munching on Rudolph!!!!
