Why is everything from Japan so cute?

Making sushi has never been so fun than with this cute makizushi maker by the folks at Skater. It’s made out of a polypropelyne material, this set comes with 4 different tools a roller, rice scooper, and 2 boxes (one that’s larger and one that’s half the size). It comes with picture instructions on how to use the sushi maker as well. Simply roll your sushi using the roller and place the sushi inside the shaper to make fun edible decorations.

Restaurants like this are normally not my thing but after a whole day of sightseeing in Philadelphia we thought we deserve a little treat and it was a recommendation from a good friend of mine.

Before the food arrived I was very, very skeptical because of the interior design and the service. But the interior looked better once the restaurant was packed with people (empty it kind of felt like a hospital) and from the moment we walked in and until we ordered we got asked if this our “first time” – “oh is it your first time at Morimoto” – “you will truly love your first experience here” like a thousand times! Man! I know what are you trying to do … you want to make this restaurant sound very special. It’s just not possible that there still people who haven’t been to Morimoto. I know, we are a rare species.

And guess what – I don’t give a… that the chef was participant of the “Iron Chef” and no you don’t have to explain the menu. I get the concept of a restaurant. I look at the menu – read what you got and ORDER! Man! Just leave me alone – you don’t have to make me feel special.

Besides all that – the food was really, really good. The Sushi sample war incredible, my pork belly tender and full of flavor, the tempura a treat, the kobe like butter and the steak very very yummy.

But surprisingly best for some reason was the Wasabi Rice side dish!

I’d love to have my own Sushi belt with cook but for starters … this train would do it too.

All good, as long as they don’t smell like fish. I have to admit – that I couldn’t stand Sushi for the longest time. Why, I don’t know. Sushi here and Sushi there. Until I went to a Japanese buffet place and I tried one ….. and… I liked it. Even though I can’t stand fish.

What is it about sushi that lends itself to plush? We’re not sure, but somehow seeing our favorite Japanese food turned into giant size pillows makes us smile. These Sushi pillows are hand made in the USA (a real rarity these days) by people who really really like Sushi.

Choose the delightful Shrimp Nigiri… or go for the delicious Salmon. There’s even a giant green Edamame for you to cuddle up with. But be warned, you’ll need a really big rotating sushi bar to serve up these plush morsels.
