Aww cute. Was trying to find a video of them in action but no luck.

Aww cute. Was trying to find a video of them in action but no luck.

The Thingamagoop is an awesome, little, light-controlled, analog synthesizer. Much like Raymond Scott’s Circle Machine (and if you don’t know who Raymond Scott is, shame on you), the Thingamagoop uses its LEDacle (an LED-tipped tentacle) to flash light (at different speeds) into its photocell. The photocell talks to the main oscillator and (with a little more technical stuff that we just won’t get into here), you get bilps and bleeps of pure electronic wonderment.

And hey, if you’re more the Maker, get a Thingamakit instead and build your own! You’ll be rewarded with the knowledge that you built it yourself, as well as an extra LEDacle, wave form, and photocell (for even more sound control, variation, etc.). What are you waiting for? You might be the next great composer of Droid Opera! But you’ll need a Thingamagoop or Thingamakit to know for sure.

Why work when you can feel like Pet Shop Boys?

Now that the laptop has become the new desktop it’s tempting to do everything on the go. But try composing or editing music while enjoying a latte at Starbucks and you’ll find yourself seriously lacking in the tactile input department. There’s a reason why musicians generally need racks of equipment at their disposal… you just cant play music so well with a keyboard and mouse.

The new Korg Nano Digital Music Controllers aim to remedy this musical dilemma by providing three different portable USB versions of common musical input devices that fit perfectly with your laptop. The nanoKEY gives you a mini velocity sensitive keyboard. The nanoPAD provides you with velocity sensitive drum-pads and a Kaossilator style x-y control pad while the nanoKONTROL gives you nine faders, nine knobs and eighteen switches for your mixing pleasure.
