Hungry Beasts

Since 2006, Berlin-based artist Uli Westphal has been collecting and documenting the 'non-standard' fruits, roots and vegetables he finds at fresh produce markets for his project "Mutatoes" ( http://uliwestphal.de/mutatocollection/index.html ).

He hopes his beautiful images of snaking-cucumbers, tentacled-lemons and five-headed eggplants will archive 'the last survivors of biological variety' and make people think about the origins of their food.
